With cartilaginous, slim and discoidal body, it measures 50 cm of diameter, small mouth in ventral position with papila and teeth as a rábula, adapted to crush solid and strong particles. Its tail is as a saw. Internal viviparous fertilization. They can be found in Orinoco and Amazonas Rivers, in sandy or smuddy funds and lagoons.
